Indian Civil wedding of Janki and Akash at the iconic London Wedding venue The Waldorf Hilton , formerly known as The Waldorf Astoria. Located in Covent Garden, in the heart of London.
The Civil wedding took place in the Palm Court and the Sangeet was held in the Adelphi Suite that night. Both spacious and grand locations. It was apparently once used as a backdrop in the famous “Titanic” movie !
While the civil wedding was quite intimate and romantic, the Sangeet night ( Sangeet night being the pre wedding party night that is filled with music and loads of food that is meant to bring both families together ) was loud, colourful and busy. With dance performances by friends, couple and a professional Bhangra Group it was truly a wild event. Watching the bridesmaid practicing their Bollywood dance moves all day prior to their performance made me realise how serious it was to them. Everyone did fantastic though and I enjoyed watching and photographing the dances.
Photographing Indian weddings and pre wedding events is a joy. They tickle all my senses. With the smells, colours, music and more. The overload of colours is a “honey to my eyes”. Janki’s purple lehengha was absolutely stunning. Like a beautiful costume from a Bollywood movie set. So was the dancing!
